Everybody uses shampoos to wash their hair, but not many know that several shampoos available in the market are harmful for our hair. These shampoos contain many chemicals which can damage the hair. Egg Shampoo
Eggs are rich sources of proteins and thereby can help greatly in hair growth. They are also known to make hair smooth.Thus they act as both conditioners and cleansers.
Some steps to make a homemade shampoo made of eggs are:
- Beat 2 egg yolks into a glass of hot water.
- Add this to a mild, baby shampoo. (You could skip this but a baby shampoo will help the smell of the egg go away)
- After straining, soak hair and scalp in this solution for an hour.
- Rinse off with warm water.
Herbal Shampoo
- Soapnut and Indian Gooseberry are used in making this simple homemade shampoo.
- Add 100 gram each of dried Soapnut (Sapindus mukorossi) and Indian Gooseberry,to one liter of water.
- Soak them in water overnight, preferably the night before you use them.
- In the morning, boil and allow to cool.
- Strain and use as a shampoo .
- This tends to take time for lather to form.
- Try and condition your hair with a softening conditioner after this as it tends to dry up your hair.
Soft Shampoo
- Soft shampoo is made with coconut milk, liquid castille soap, vitamin E oil and essential oil. It will be ideal to add olive oil or almondoil if you have dry hair.
- Mix 1/4 th cup of coconut milk, 1/3rd cup of castille soap, 1/2 teaspoon of oil and a 1/2 spoon of olive or almond oil.
- Use a foam dispenser to mix them.
- Once it is mixed, you can start using it as a shampoo.
- It can be used as a shampoo for a month.
- Everytime you you use it don’t forget to shake it.
- This is one of the best homemade shampoos as it is the safest.
Patch Test
Before trying out these homemade shampoo recipes it is important to ensure that they are good for your skin.Test the safety of these shampoos by applying a little shampoo to a small area of skin (inside the elbow). Leave this on for 2-3 hours and check for redness, swelling or itching in which case, it is recommended that you don’t use it. It is recommended that you perform patch test for all the shampoos that were listed above to find out which is best for you.
