Eyes are one of the most important sensory organs of the body. An infection in the eyes causes vision deficiency. All day long eyes are the only organs that have continuous movements and this may strain the eyes at times. At times eyes turn to red color also when they are infected by a foreign particle and this leads to itching. There are many types of vision defects and some are related to old age as well, where things may start appearing blurred. But proper eye care will help in better visibility and will cause less damage to the eyes.

  • Constant exposure to hot wind will cause dryness in the eyes.
  • Reading in dim or inadequate light.
  • Working on the computers for long hours.
  • Watching T.V. from a close angle.
  • If you have a deficiency of Vitamin A.

  • Smoking.

  • Include carrots and tomatoes to yourdaily diet. These vegetables will improve your vision.
  • Avoid smoking. Smoking will cause damage your eyes as toxic material in the smoke will harm your eyes.
  • Intake of Vitamin A will be very helpful. Vitamin A is very essential in maintaining good and healthy eyes. Make sure you consume foods that are rich in Vitamin A.
  • Eat a few walnuts daily. This is the easiest way to take care of the eyes.
  • An effective eye care is to massage your toes and soles everyday with mustard (sarson) oil.
  • For curing myopia (short sightedness) store water in a green bottle and keep it under the sun for a day. Now use this water to wash your eyes daily.
  • Vitamin C is known for maintaining immunity and fighting the infections as well. For better eye care make sure you include Vitamin C in your daily diet.
  • For a quick and easy remedy, take lemon juice and rose water in equal proportion and store this in a container. Now use this as an eye drop. It will be very helpful.
  • Spinach contains carotenoids; hence consuming spinach in your meals will prevent you from many eye problems and will also avoid Vitamin A deficiency.
  • To protect your eyes from viral infection and to get better vision use eye bright herb drops in your eyes.
  • Wash your eyes with cold water regularly this will give calmness to your eyes.
  • A useful home remedy is to boil one cup of water and add ½ teaspoon of fennel (saunf) seeds in it. Allow it to cool down and use this as eye drops. This will be very helpful.
  • During summer have a mango every day. Mangoes are power packed with Vitamin A and calcium. Therefore they are very good for the eyes. This is one of the natural remedy to cure eye problems.
  • Make a mixture of ten grams of honey, ten grams of onion juice and two grams of Borneo camphor. Now store this in a container and every night apply it to your eyes. This is one of the natural ways for preventing cataract.
  • Make a paste of grinded sugar candy, fennel (saunf) seeds and almonds in equal proportions. Store this paste in a glass jar. Eat about ten grams of this paste with milk every night. This will help in curing myopia (short sightedness).
  • If you have to work on computers for long hours it is advised to take a break every two hours for 10-15 mins.
  • To reduce the redness of the eye and to get relief from eye strain, take 30-35 grams of rose water and add 4-5 grams of alum (phitakiri) powder. Now put 2-3 drops of the above mixture in your eyes before retiring to bed. This is a very useful and effective home remedy.
  • You can also do some eye exercises to prevent your eyes from further damage.
  • Keep blinking your eyes continuously for about ten times.
  • Sit in a relaxed position and close your eyes and place your palms over it for about ten mins. This will relax your eyes and will soothe the eyes as well.
  • Sit in an upright position keeping your back bone and neck straight now revolve the pupil up and down for 6-7 times.
