Breastfeeding or bottle-feeding? This is one of the big decisions that a mother has to face. Though the baby can get lots of nutrition from breast milk, and it is advisable to breastfeed the baby till 8-9 months, we need to also consider that bottle feeding gives mothers a lot of convenience who can not breast feed their baby.  Bottle feeding a baby should not be looked upon as if mothers are committing a sin.

Talking about the advantages of bottle feed, it has lots of benefits in it. Deciding to bottle feed the baby gives the mothers easy and hassle free life. If you bottle feed, your baby can enjoy sound sleep at night.

Here are some benefits of bottle feed
  • Formula milk is more difficult to digest but the proteins that are found in formula milk will keep the baby’s stomach full and ensures that he is well fed so there is no need for you to feed the baby frequently.
  • In bottle feeding, mother can keep the track of the amount of  milk that has been consumed by a baby as there is a calibration in the baby bottle. This is advantageous as the mother knows exactly how much nutrition her baby is getting, this is particularly helpful when the baby is ill.
  • Mothers who bottle feed their baby do not encounter any changes in their hormones. This will also prevent the nipples of the mothers to have sores.
  • Even though that breast fed babies are more immune to diseases, but the bottle fed babies are also protected from any serious illness as formula milk is also nutritious.
  • In bottle feeding, the entire family can be involved in feeding the baby. This will also provide rest to the mothers and mother’s responsibility is also shared.

  • In bottle feeding mothers, they need not to worry about any intake of medicines or if the mother is on any medication as it doesn’t affect the baby.
  • This will not interrupt lovemaking with partner, as during breast feeding the mother undergoes a lot of hormonal changes and this result in vaginal dryness, sore nipples and leaky breasts which is not the case in bottle feeding.
  • As soon as the mother is in her feeding time, she has lots of concerns, like dressing herself. Unlike those mothers who breast-feed, mothers who bottle-feed can have their own style of dressing, as a breast feeding mother has to wear a dress which helps the baby to easily access her mother’s breasts.


Bottle Feeding a baby is more advantageous to mothers who are working. They don’t have to think that their babies are not fed, since they always have the other family members to take care of the baby. All you need to do is to remind or teach them on how to prepare the formula milk for the baby. By this, you are now secured that your baby is fed on time.
